World Series 2019 Live:  Stream championship series of Major League Baseball’s 2019 season. The 115th edition of the World Series, it is a best-of-seven playoff played between the American League champion Houston Astros and the National League champion Washington Nationals. The series began on October 22, with a potential Game 7 scheduled to be played on October 30.

Houston clearly has a superior overall team; The Astros posted entry 107-55 to Nuts 93-69. However, the Washington group is arriving in full swing thanks to the dramatic victory of the wild cards over the Brewers, the thrilling upset of the NLDS Dodgers and the sweeping NLCS Cardinals.

“I sincerely believe that these guys are ready to be here,” said national manager Dave Martinez. “This year we played a lot of incredible games. We have come a long way.

Both finalists came here, relying heavily on their rotation, although Astros went through ALCS Game 6 and could have resorted to this strategy in game 4. Stros (23.7) and Nats (22.3) took fourth and fifth places, respectively, in the wins above the replacement for the starting pitchers, according to FanGraphs. This addiction will not change for the worse now. In fact, citizens use their starters so regularly that Martinez would not name the starter of game 3 if they use Patrick Corbin, an obvious candidate for this appointment, as an assistant in the first two contests.

Verlander and Stephen Strasbourg, a likely NL Cy Young finalist who could join Cole in the open market if he abandons his deal with Washington, will be featured in Game 2 Wednesday night. This is pretty damn good, but in Game 1 the most jokes are due to the presence of Cole, a former Yankee first-round pick who reached his peak right at the right time for both his team and his personal condition.

Memories of how Jose Altuve’s home race took place on Saturday in the 6th series of the American League championships so that Astros defeated the New York Yankees are still fresh in the minds of baseball fans.

Meanwhile, the Washington Nationals, sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in a series of National League championships, feel that this happened many years ago … and in the world of baseball, it seemed to happen.

Washington enters the Fall Classic by wrapping up its LCS on October 15th, and a long vacation can be troubling as citizens prepare to take on one of Astros’s heaviest baseball hitters.

Let’s take a look at the chances of each team and preview the main storylines that you need to know before playing the 1st stage of the 115th World Series. Houston takes advantage of the home field in the series. And Minute Maid Park was good for the Astros; they went 5-1 at home through the postseason.

Then there is the beginning of pitching – on both sides. But we will start with Houston. Gerrit Cole, who has gone 19-0 in his last 25 starts, will take the mound in game 1.

It is not surprising that they, chances, will leave this fall. They leave the season in which they set a franchise record for victories (107-55) and overcome 100 points for the third year in a row.

Hall of Fame of the Future Justin Verlander gets a start for the Astros in Game 2. Zack Greinke, also heading to the Hall, will start Game 3.

How deadly was this group? According to ESPN Stats & Information, Houston starters crossed out 28.9 percent of those they encountered in the regular season, which is a good indicator in MLB history.

In the year of the home run, the Astros and Nationals have served as reminders that exciting, dominant starting pitching is still out there, and still effective. Both clubs, who will face off in the 2019 World Series beginning with Game 1 on Tuesday, are built around their rotation. Pitching, was hardly the focus in the regular season, however. Instead, it was the juiced ball that got the attention, from early April when its use was first detected, and then in the postseason when, suddenly, it was nowhere to be found.

Some narrative-setting background, for those who haven’t been following along: the 2019 ball isn’t actually “juiced,” but its seams have been altered in a way that changes its aerodynamics significantly — those alternations and their effects have been described in detail by Meredith Willis and Rob Arthur. That change, which reduces drag, played more than a small part in this record-setting season, in which a new mark was set for the most homers in a single MLB season… on September 11, with weeks to go before all of the playoff spots were locked up. That record-breaking dinger, struck by the Orioles’ Jonathan Villar, was number 6,106 for the year: by season’s end, the league had hit 6,776, shattering the old mark.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, like in the 2017 season when ball physics was also a popular topic, repeatedly denied anything was different about the balls, then moved on to denying that anything was deliberately different, and then finally admitted that something was both different and wrong, and that MLB would get the baseball scientists on the case so they could figure out what it was come the offseason.

Manfred spoke of how MLB wanted to strive for transparency on the ball issue, and that, while they weren’t required to discuss changes to the ball with the Players Association, they wanted to make sure players would be “aware” of the situation. Then, when the playoffs started, roughly a week after Manfred’s comments, the rocket ball vanished. There was no notice from the league. MLB is, once again, denying they’ve done anything, and are saying that the postseason balls are the same as the regular season balls despite acting entirely differently. Then again, MLB spend months trying to tell us there was nothing special or different about the 2019 regular season balls, either.

Teams like the Twins rode the juiced ball to the postseason. Minnesota crushed the previous record for homers in a season: they surpassed that mark of 267 on August 31, and then finished their campaign with 307 bombs. Twins, whose strategy for victory was to hit dingers and let a stellar bullpen do the rest, were swept by the Yankees in the ALDS. Their team, which featured 11 different players with at least 10 homers, had their most significant advantage removed just in time for their toughest and most important matchup of the year.

That brings us back to the Astros and Nationals, teams which did rely on pitching during the regular season. The loss of the juiced ball meant little to them, compared to what it did to the poor Twins. The Nationals made it to October on the strength of a rotation that featured perennial Cy Young contender Max Scherzer doing his usual thing, Stephen Strasburg reminding the Nats why they signed him to a lucrative extension, free agent acquisition Patrick Corbin improving on the work that earned him a $140 million deal this past winter, and the inexplicably revitalized Aníbal Sánchez, who has produced some of the best work of his career the last two seasons in his mid-30s after escaping Detroit.

Watch MLB World Series 2019 Live Online

The World Series is upon us and it looks to be an exciting matchup. We’ve got two teams full of fun players to watch. The Astros are looking to kickstart dynasty talk while the Nationals are looking for the first World Series title in franchise history. One of the many reasons this series will be fun is the rotations are historically good.

Six of the best 15 or so starting pitchers in MLB will come together in the 2019 World Series between the Astros and Nationals.

For Houston: Zack Greinke, Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole. For Washington: Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin.

It does not seem like a coincidence that these staffs anchored the AL and NL pennant winners throughout the MLB playoffs. Rather, at a time of year even the deepest of bullpens get strained, having several reliable starting pitching options to go at least six innings has been essential to the success of these teams.

To get here, the 107-win Astros toppled the Rays and Yankees. The wild-card Nationals, meanwhile, pushed past the Brewers, Dodgers and Cardinals en route to their first World Series appearance.

Here is everything to know about the 2019 World Series schedule, including TV channels and start times for every game.

World Series 2019 Schedule

The 2019 World Series starts on Tuesday, Oct. 22, and could last as long as nine days with Game 7 scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Game Matchup/result Date Time TV channel
Game 1 Nationals at Astros Tuesday, Oct. 22 8:08 p.m. ET Fox
Game 2 Nationals at Astros Wednesday, Oct. 23 8:07 p.m. ET Fox
Game 3 Astros at Nationals Friday, Oct. 25 8:07 p.m. ET Fox
Game 4 Astros at Nationals Saturday, Oct. 26 8:07 p.m. ET Fox
Game 5* Astros at Nationals Sunday, Oct. 27 8:07 p.m. ET Fox
Game 6* Nationals at Astros Tuesday, Oct. 29 8:07 p.m. ET Fox
Game 7* Nationals at Astros Wednesday, Oct. 30 8:08 p.m. ET Fox

The potential meeting of seven dynamic starting pitchers should dominate the World Series buzz.

Houston boasts a trio of Gerrit Cole, Justin Verlander and Zack Greinke, all of whom put in quality ALCS appearances.

Washington’s quartet of Anibal Sanchez, Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin controlled the NLCS with four consecutive dominant showings.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan outlined the possible matchups, with Cole and Scherzer leading off the Fall Classic in Game 1.

Since Houston used three starters in the first two rounds, it will likely have to utilize a bullpen day at some point.

If AJ Hinch keeps his rotation on full rest, Game 4 has the highest probability of belonging to the relievers. They were supposed to take charge in ALCS Game 4 before a rain delay allowed Greinke and Verlander to throw on regular rest.

Both sets of relievers will be called on in crucial late-inning situations. Washington only used four bullpen arms in the NLCS, so it may have the fresher set of flamethrowers.

Houston called on a seven-man platoon to win ALCS Game 6, but Jose Urquidy, a starter at the end of the regular season, was the only one to pitch more than two innings.

If Cole and Verlander produce six- or seven-inning appearances, Houston’s staff should be fresh for the visit to Nationals Park.

The Astros’ pair of Will Harris and Roberto Osuna, as well as Washington’s Sean Doolittle and Daniel Hudson, are capable of slamming the door in the final two or three frames to back up a quality start.

However, both sides will have a difficult time getting out the sluggers in each lineup.

Jose Altuve and Michael Brantley led the Astros with 15 combined hits in the ALCS, while Carlos Correa and George Springer contributed two home runs each.

Howie Kendrick, Anthony Rendon and Trea Turner all had five NLCS base knocks, while nine batters had at least two hits.

Washington’s production could drop if it faces Cole and Verlander at home. In four playoff starts at Minute Maid Park, the pair went 3-0 with 12 hits conceded with 40 strikeouts over 29.1 innings.

Houston could also benefit from the World Series experience in its order. In 2017, Altuve, Springer, Correa and Alex Bregman all had six or more hits and at least two home runs.

If the Astros find the right combination of quality pitching and power hitting at home, their worst-case scenario would be heading back home facing a one-game deficit.

The 2017 champion proved it could win on the road in the ALCS, and it should produce a similar fight versus a Nationals side that could be a bit desperate by Game 3.

New York pounced on Houston Astros starter Justin Verlander for a four-run first inning, keyed by Aaron Hicks’ one-out, three-run homer. That proved more than enough contention for the Yanks, who received six innings of one-run ball from James Paxton and then three scoreless frames from the three relievers behind him.

New York’s 4-1 victory Friday ensured there will be a Game 6 in Houston on Saturday. The Astros still hold a 3-2 series advantage, but they’ll need their home crowd to help them regain momentum.

Houston-Washington Has Loads of Pitching and Star Power

A Nationals-Astros series is a pitching lover’s dream.

It’s not these are offenses are lacking in any way. Houston and Washington finished this season third and sixth, respectively, in runs scored. With Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve leading one lineup, and Anthony Rendon and Juan Soto pacing the other, these clubs can score in bunches.

But with starting pitching of this caliber, sometimes it doesn’t matter who’s at the plate.

In this power-crazed season, only 20 qualified starters had ERAs south of 3.50. This series would feature six of them: Gerrit Cole, Verlander, Max Scherzer, Zack Greinke, Patrick Corbin and Stephen Strasburg.

ESPN’s Cy Young predictor labels Strasburg as the NL favorite for the award. He posted a pristine 18-6 record, held hitters to a tiny 1.04 WHIP and punched out 251 of them in 209 innings.

“There is no better possible 2019 World Series matchup when it comes to starting pitching,” CBSSports.com’s Mike Axisa wrote in late September. “… Add in Bregman and Rendon, [Yordan] Alvarez and Soto, Jose Altuve, Trea Turner, George Springer and Victor Robles, and you have yourself the makings of an exciting series.”

New York-Washington Pits Old Against New

The Yankees are the biggest, most decorated winners in MLB history. They have 40 World Series appearances and 27 championships on their resume. Their trophy collection is an embarrassment of riches.

The Nationals have already probed deeper into the postseason than ever before. Prior to this October, they had never won a playoff series, let alone a pennant. Even in their Montreal Expos days, they didn’t reach the World Series.

That said, New York’s history is mostly a distant kind. The Yankees would be making their first World Series trip in a decade. And Washington’s previous stumbles don’t reflect this roster. The Nats have new and maturing talent, not to mention one of the best pitching trios in baseball.

In other words, forget what history has to say. If you injected the Nationals with truth serum, they’d probably admit to wanting the Yankees.

“When it comes to [a World Series opponent], Nationals should have one clear, if undesirable, option. That is to root for the New York Yankees,” Chase Hughes wrote for NBC Sports Washington. “… They … probably represent the Nats’ best path towards getting their first [title].”

New York boasts a better lineup and a more reliable bullpen than Washington. But that’s true of Houston, too. What’s different about the Yankees is they don’t have the same quality or depth in their rotation. That’s the biggest (only?) advantage the Nationals would have in either possible matchup, and it also could be the key to quieting the Bronx Bombers’ bats.

On paper, the Astros would figure to be fairly heavy favorites over the Nats. The Yankees might be favored, too, but the gap wouldn’t be as wide, which could lead to a more competitive series.
